Born in the South. Transitioned to the North.
When and where will it end?
“I was raised a child of the South, sensitive but hardened to that around me. Neither a father’s son nor a momma’s boy, I was both, slowly gravitating in a ballet that balanced my parents’ worlds – the hardening of flesh and soul by my father, who forced me to spend countless hours in the sun and who usually demanded silence in the stillness of nature, coupled with the gingerly sweet ways of my mother, who cared deeply about the world at large and introduced me to reading.”
